The middle distance youngbirds had their last race yesterday and made good work of it by all accounts. This was the fourth time they have seen the channel so should set them up nicely for French racing next year.
With easterly winds and a very hot day we were a little concerned that they may struggle a bit but once they started coming that proved to be wrong. We had great returns and our first bird is provisionally 2nd Open British International Championship Club Guernsey. She is bred from an Andre Roodhoft x Gino Clicque pairing. Well done to Mr and Mrs M Gower for winning the race.

We were so pleased to finish our National campaign yesterday by winning 1st Open British International Championship Club Guernsey. We thought with east winds in the channel we would be beaten on the west side but thought we had a decent chance of a good performance as the birds have been coming so well. To say it’s been a dream season is an understatement.
What was especially pleasing with this performance for me was the fact this hen has finally won a 1st position as she has dropped so many times with the winner but has never managed to trap first.
This good grizzle hen is out of ‘Grizzly Wonder’ x ‘Bulck 113’ which are responsible for 9 x 1st BBO & Berkshire Fed winners and incidentally are the grand parents of last weeks 1st Open National Flying Club Carentan winner.

Really pleased with how the youngsters dealt with the tricky conditions in the NFC Youngbird National yesterday. After having it easy from Guernsey the last two weeks the wind decided to change and blow strong Northeast across the channel all the way home so we were wondering if they would struggle and whether returns would be patchy. We had great returns and had six arrive at the loft with the Old bird National winner and our first on the clock is provisionally 2nd Section, 6th Open.
The father of this youngster is a grandson of ‘Armando’ who was sold for 1.25 million Euros and was the best one day long distance pigeon ever in Belgium and also a grandson of ‘Contador’ and ‘Suzanne’ all raced by Joel Verschoot.
The mother is a grand daughter of Gino Clicque ‘Prince Rudy’ and a daughter of Gino’s ‘Kristina’.

So happy and surprised to win 1st Open National Flying Club Carentan yesterday on a much tougher day than we have had the last couple of weeks. We were not expecting to go very close in a northeast wind but our game widowhood hen had other ideas and returned home bringing six youngbirds with her. She has been a good hen for us this year and earlier in the season won the BB&O Fed from Honiton and then two weeks ago scored 2nd National British International Championship Club Guernsey.
Her father is a double grandson of ‘Gold Dust’ one of the best ever breeding sisters of ‘Kittel’.
Her mother is a daughter of ‘Grizzly Wonder’ x ‘Bulck 113’ who are parents of 9 x 1st BB&O & Berkshire Fed winners aswell as scores of top 10 positions etc.
We also have another hen close behind that looks like she could provisionally take 2nd Open.

Extremely happy how the team performed today from the British Barcelona Club Guernsey Youngbird and Any Age Nationals. We had 16 birds on the clock in less than a minute and approx 85 home from 120 sent in about half an hour. The group that dropped together were a mixture of old hens and youngsters so we clocked in both races at the same time to prov win 1st section 3rd Open Young birds and 1st section 4th Open old birds. This was the teams second Guernsey in two weeks and will go back to the National Flying Club Youngbird National next week.
Well done to all the winners today.
